Anoka-Ramsey Community College Welcomes New BSN Program

A big trend in community college lately seems to be the introduction of four-year nursing programs. Thanks to collaboration with Bemidji State University, that trend is coming to Anoka-Ramsey Community College’s Cambridge campus: the Minnesota community college will be offering full RN to BSN programs starting in 2009’s Fall semester.

President of Bemidji State University Jon Quistgaard and ARCC President Patrick M. Johns on April 20 signed an agreement during the Cambridge Campus Foundation nursing luncheon.

The agreement allows Bemidji State University to bring its bachelor of science in nursing degree to the Cambridge Campus beginning fall 2009.

“Bemidji State is proud to partner with Anoka-Ramsey by bringing this nationally-accredited nursing program to the Cambridge area,” said Quistgaard. “These new opportunities for access to four-year programs help strengthen the state’s talent pool while providing career advancement possibilities for individuals.”

This move is, in part, an effort to help alleviate the nationwide nursing shortage by offering to hopeful nursing students opportunities both new and varied — for further convenience, online RSN degrees will be offered in addition to the standard camp versions. School officials hope to open many doors to current registered nurses with these programs, allowing an upward move within their careers, or even the potential to move into a career as a nursing professor.
